Since taking office in 2023, LaTisha Brunson hasn’t stopped working for Ward 1. She’s organized neighborhood cleanups, partnered with the local Lowe’s store to launch a Yard of the Month program rewarding residents with gift cards and supplies, expanded healthy food access across Ward 1, and sponsored voter registration drives to get more Ward 1 residents to the polls. She’s built strong relationships with neighborhood watch teams to help keep our streets safer and cleaner, authored legislation to stop the spread of small box stores while fighting for real grocery access, launched Friends of the First Ward to recognize and support Ward 1’s small and minority-owned businesses: including D’Cora’s Bakery, Carpenter’s Produce, Underwater Seafood, Lil D’s Barbecue, Country Chic, and Super 1 Foods  and developed partnerships across the city with the library, local schools, and community organizations to bring real resources home.
